Nettuts+ just published my article!
http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/other/top-20-mysql-best-practices/
Database operations often tend to be the main bottleneck for most web applications today. It’s not only the DBA’s (database administrators) that have to worry about these performance issues. We as programmers need to do our part by structuring tables properly, writing optimized queries and better code. Here are some MySQL optimization techniques for programmers.

Congratulations again and again!
As your previous posts were about the ORM tool Doctrine, I wonder how doctrine is succesful with the optimizing criterias
Do we need to think about these criterias when developing with doctrine? What to do to gain performance with doctrine?
Maybe this question’s answer may be another great tutorial by you in next days.

I enjoyed your article and found it very useful. I’m a retired software developer (and former SQL pro) who nows runs a few websites, mostly as a hobby. And I’m using MySQL a bit.
Joe Celko, one of the top SQL gurus in the country, used to work for me and we exchanged and worked on some interesting SQL puzzles over the years. Look him up on the web at http://www.celko.com/. Someone needs to do for MySQL what he has done for the major commercial SQL databases.

Thank you. MySQL definitely has a long way to go.
I have recently seen the Sudoku puzzle solved in MySQL: http://dev.juokaz.com/mysql/solving-soduku-with-only-mysql

What? They copied? Did they ever ask your consent?
Isn’t it copyright infringement?

Yes it is a copyright infringement. Unfortunately it happens. I will tell Nettuts; they might know what to do about it.
